Family, Fall, Fun Festival...

I can never remember what this event is called. Every few months we have a family night at church. So that with a normal Fall Festival put together with fun, family night... you get it...its confusing! D was asked to take over the Fall Festival this year and I still don't what its called. We played with so many names... I think it was just Fall Family Night, but fun should be in there somewhere I feel like... so whatever the event is called is what this post is about... in all of its fall, fun, family, festival glory.

Normally our children's director heads this event up, but the lady who was over children's recently stepped down so we are in the process of finding someone else. The children's committee then went to d and asked if he and the recreation ministry would run it this year. It could be on our own terms so he agreed. In years past its been a trunk or treat type event, but this year we decided to make it more a family event rather than just for little ones. Inflatibles, games, hayrides, pumpkin painting, face painting, dunk tank...yes, our pastor went first. Yes, it was freezing and yes someone was in there all night. The event was Sunday from 4-7. Bro. Eddie took the first shift like a good sport. Somehow d was able to convince some other brave souls to get in there as well. I guess they forgot it was the end of October when they agreed.

Not only were there fun activities but delicious food! Mr. Holley grilled over 300 hamburgers on his huge tailgating grill, Mr. B cooked I don't know how many of his famous corn dogs, along with popcorn, snocones, and cotton candy. We ate well. :)

It was such a great night. Though we wanted our church family to have a great time the real purpose behind this event was outreach. We wanted to bring in families from the community that might not step into our church doors otherwise. It was publicized in the fayette county paper, on our church sign (which is what a church sign is for... but then again you guys know how I feel about church signs), our website and of course by word of mouth. We did a registration for door prizes that allowed us to have everyone's information so our outreach team could follow up. About mid way through the night d shut everything down and presented the gospel. It was such a sweet night. We are pretty sure we had over 350 people come through. (and most were not members) So many I'm sure came for the free food and family activities, but we're praying that hearts were changed forever as they heard and realized their need for a Savior.

I just can't say Thank You enough to all of our recreation committee members and volunteers. You guys are awesome. We are so thankful for all of your hard work, support, and commitment to spreading the love of Christ through recreation. Love you guys!

ha... I found D's graphic...
